Paul Delacerda - ARMY - Drums
Army Staff Sergeant (ret) Paul Delacerda, drummer for the first wounded warrior band, Vetted (Formerly Warrior Spirit). I was born and raised in Houston, Tx, l've been playing drums since I was nine years old. I was raised around music all my life, my grandfather was an accomplished musician with numerous albums released internationally. My father played guitar as a mariachi when I was younger, and I was introduced to drums through my uncle. My friends introduced me to rock music that has me hooked.
I joined the military in 1995 after falling on hard times, and becoming homeless, and living under a bridge. When I was asked what I wanted to do, I chose the Airborne Infantry. I was stationed in Italy and assigned to an airborne infantry unit. I was deployed numerous times during my tour overseas. After 4.5 years I reenlisted and was Re-assigned to 25'" infantry division (LRSD) at Schofield Barracks Hawaii in 1999. Due to a major knee injury during training, I left the Army briefly due to medical reasons.
Exactly two months later 9/11 happened. After 9/11 I re-entered the Army, and was sent to Fort Bragg, Nc. in 2002 with the 82"* ABN Division. In 2005 while deployed to Iraq in support of the national elections, I was subsequently injured by an IED attack. I suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and various other injuries. I stayed in the military for over fifteen years till I was medically retired in 2009.
After I returned home, l attended an event through the veteran's non-profit, Wounded Warrior Project. This is where I found my inspiration, to create America's first wounded warrior band. Empowering others through music, helping my fellow warriors transition into civilian life.

PJ Pennington - MARINE CORPS - Rythm Guitar
From a small town called Wallis, TX, PJ Pennington left for the Marine Corps right after high school in ‘98 where he would serve 4 years at Camp Pendleton in the AAV Battalion. PJ was Honorably discharged in the in ‘02 and moved to Houston, TX where he would continue his passion for music.
Playing guitar since he was 14, PJ’s goal was to play in a band locally and to play live on stage. PJ continued his passion for music and played in the Houston music scene for 20 yrs. getting the opportunity to meet and learn from many local artists in the scene.

Tragedy struck PJ in the year of 2010, and he was shot trying to protect his family from a hate crime. The end result after being shot, PJ was paralyzed from the waist down and to follow would be a long road to recovery.
Despite all the pain and obstacles, he was determined to get back to what he loved most and that was playing guitar on stage again. After all the surgeries and rehabilitation, PJ was released from the VA where he would continue to follow his passion for music and start playing live shows again.

Dan Steele - ARMY - Bass Guitar / Backing Vocals

Music has always been part of Dan’s DNA. From singing in school choirs to his early years mastering the bass, he built a creative foundation that would eventually become his lifeline. At 18, Dan traded the stage for a uniform, enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving with the 3rd Infantry Division from 2007 to 2011, including a 12-month deployment to Iraq.
The transition back to civilian life was a long and difficult road, but in 2020, music led him home. Reclaiming his instrument and his voice, Dan threw himself back into the scene, joining multiple bands and mastering over 200 songs.
Today, that journey comes full circle with VETTED. As a member of this veteran-focused nonprofit band, Dan has finally found the intersection of his two greatest callings: his passion for music and his unwavering sense of duty.
